Reverse description The reverse presents the honorific legend OB CIVIS SERVATOS ("For saving the citizens") inscribed in three lines across the central field, a reference to the corona civica — the oak wreath awarded to Augustus by the Senate. The inscription is fully enclosed within a finely detailed wreath of oak leaves and acorns, tied at the top with a pellet or ring-shaped knot, the ends of the wreath meeting symmetrically at the base. The wreath is rendered with great naturalistic precision, each leaf and acorn individually modeled in high relief. A lined or beaded border frames the entire composition, consistent with the refined die-work characteristic of Augustan aurei of this period.
