| Obverse description | Bare-necked, laureate bust of Augustus facing right, rendered in fine high relief with carefully detailed laurel wreath set atop wavy hair. The portrait displays the idealized Classical style characteristic of Augustan court coinage, with sharp facial features and a slight drape visible at the truncation. The circular Latin legend reads AVGVSTVS DIVI F, distributed around the bust within a beaded border. The flan is slightly irregular, as is typical of hand-struck aurei of this period. |
