Obverse description Bare laureate head of Augustus facing right, rendered in fine high relief with carefully delineated curly hair arranged in the Augustan manner. The portrait displays the characteristic idealized yet individualized features associated with the emperor's official coinage from the Lugdunum mint. The surrounding legend AVGVSTVS DIVI F is distributed around the field, reading clockwise. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. The workmanship reflects the refined die-cutting style of the Lugdunum atelier during the late Augustan period.
