| Obverse description | Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in fine relief with characteristic classicising portraiture. The hair is depicted in layered, comma-shaped locks swept forward over the brow in the Augustan manner. The truncation of the neck is plain and unadorned. The Latin legend AVGVSTVS DIVI F curves around the periphery of the flan, divided to either side of the portrait, and is bordered by a beaded inner rim visible on the right side of the die. |
