| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped bust of Antoninus Pius facing right, portrayed as Caesar prior to his accession, with curly hair rendered in fine relief typical of Antonine portraiture. The effigy displays the characteristic thick neck and strong facial features of the future emperor, with drapery visible at the truncation of the shoulder. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP T AEL CAES ANTONINVS, distributed around the periphery of the flan.
