Obverse description Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Julian of Pannonia facing right, depicted in the standard imperial military manner of the late third century. The radiate crown, composed of pointed rays, is clearly rendered above the portrait. The cuirass indicates the emperor's military role, while the drapery is visible over the left shoulder. The encircling Latin legend, partially worn, identifies the emperor by his full titulature. The flan is irregular and the relief is somewhat flat, characteristic of a hastily produced usurper's coinage.
