Obverse description Right-facing crowned bust of Augustus III, King of Poland, rendered in high relief with considerable naturalistic detail. The king wears an ornate royal crown with fleurs-de-lis and pearled arches, his long curled wig falling over a richly draped mantle fastened at the shoulder. The truncation shows the elaborate folds of armour beneath the robe. The circular legend D G AVGVSTVS III REX POLONIARUM runs along the upper periphery in bold Roman capitals, separated from the dentilated border by a narrow flat rim.
