Additional information

The Koinon of Galatia was a provincial assembly granted limited coinage rights under Roman oversight — one of several such leagues in Asia Minor permitted to strike bronze for local circulation while silver remained a Roman imperial monopoly. Nero's early reign saw a flurry of provincial bronze issues across Anatolia, partly because his 64 AD currency reform tightened control over precious metal coinage and pushed communities toward bronze for everyday exchange.

The Galatian koinon issues of this period are modestly scarce; Galatia's urban density was lower than western Anatolian provinces, and circulation pools were correspondingly smaller.
