Obverse description Christ enthroned, depicted in full frontal view, bearded and nimbate, wearing tunic and kolobion, seated upon a backless throne. He holds the Gospels in his left hand, with his right hand raised in blessing. The nimbus cross features a pellet in each limb. The Christogram IC-XC appears in the left and right fields respectively, rendered in Greek majuscule letters characteristic of Komnenian-era Byzantine coinage.
