Obverse description Christ Pantokrator depicted in full figure, standing erect upon a low dais or suppedaneum, robed in imperial Byzantine vestments with right hand raised in a gesture of benediction and left hand holding the Gospels. The effigy is framed within a beaded border, with a large six-pointed star occupying the lower left and lower right fields. The Christogram abbreviation IC XC (Iesous Christos) is inscribed in Greek majuscules flanking the nimbed head, one pair of letters to each side.
