| Reverse description | Beardless, crowned bust of Emperor Manuel I Komnenos facing, depicted in three-quarter length in imperial regalia. The emperor wears a jewelled stemma and loros, holding a labarum staff in his right hand and a globus cruciger surmounted by a cross in his left. The legend MANOVHΛ ΔECΠ appears in the fields flanking the imperial bust, identifying the emperor as Manuel Despot. The design follows the established Komnenian imperial portrait convention on billon trachea struck at Constantinople. |
