Obverse description Christ Pantokrator enthroned facing, nimbate with cruciform nimbus bearing pellets on the arms, robed in imperial loros and maphorion, holding the Gospels in His left hand and raising His right hand in blessing. The elaborately jewelled throne with lyre-shaped back and footrest is rendered in fine detail. The Christogram IC XC appears in the fields to left and right of the figure, all within a beaded inner circle typical of Comnenian scyphate coinage.
