| Obverse description | Concave (scyphate) field bearing a beardless bust of Christ Emmanuel, nimbate, depicted facing in a hieratic style wearing the pallium and colobium; the left hand holds a scroll while the cruciform nimbus is ornamented with four pellets arranged as a square in each limb, with a fifth pellet at the centre of each grouping. The Christological abbreviation IC XC flanks the nimbus, with the epithet OЄ MM A Nδ HΛ inscribed on either side in Greek majuscule characters. The design is enclosed by a beaded border. |
