Obverse description Central circular cartouche enclosing a multi-line Arabic legend in thuluth script recording the sultan's titles and epithet, the mint name Qumm, and the AH regnal date 938. The surrounding marginal legend carries the full royal titulature of Shah Tahmasp I. The field is characteristic of early Safavid hammered gold coinage, with slightly irregular flan edges and calligraphic text filling the available space.

Reverse description Central rectangular cartouche bearing the Shi'a Kalima in three lines of elegant thuluth script, proclaiming the testimony of faith and the wilayat of Ali. The surrounding marginal border carries the names of the Twelve Imams of Twelver Shi'a Islam, a hallmark of Safavid coinage introduced to distinguish the dynasty's religious identity. The overall composition is densely calligraphic, consistent with early sixteenth-century Safavid hammered gold issues.
