| Reverse description | Central field bearing the Shi'a Kalima arranged in three horizontal registers in bold thuluth script: the first line reads 'La ilaha illa Allah' (There is no god but God), the second 'Muhammad rasul Allah' (Muhammad is the messenger of God), and the third 'Ali wali Allah' (Ali is the vicegerent of God), constituting the characteristic Twelver Shi'a profession of faith adopted on Safavid coinage. The inscriptions fill the field with commanding, deeply struck letterforms and are contained within a well-defined inner circle bordered by a continuous outer ring of large raised pellets, consistent with the established Safavid ashrafi type. |
