| Reverse description | Reverse field entirely occupied by multiple horizontal registers of Arabic script in naskh style, continuing the epigraphic program of the obverse. The legends, arranged in stacked lines across the coin's surface, record religious formulae and mint or regnal information associated with Sultan Abu al-Nasir Janbalat. The hammered strike produces slight double-striking and irregular flan edges characteristic of Mamluk ashrafi production at the turn of the sixteenth century. |

Janbalat's reign lasted barely eight months in 1500–1501 before he was deposed and executed by Qansuh al-Ghawri, making issues struck in his name among the shortest-tenured Mamluk gold emissions. The Ashrafi denomination had been the prestige gold coinage of the Sultanate since Barquq's reign in the late fourteenth century, maintaining a broadly stable weight standard even as political authority cycled violently through the Circassian Mamluk factions.
At least four sultans held power within a single decade around this issue.
