Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Vespasian facing right, rendered in a realistic portrait style characteristic of Flavian coinage, with strong facial features and a wreath of laurel encircling the brow. The effigy occupies the central field, with the circumferential Latin legend arranged around the periphery of the flan. The portrait reflects the individualistic, veristic tradition of Roman imperial portraiture. The flan shows the typical irregular fabric of a hammered bronze as of this period.
