Obverse description Laureate head of Vespasian facing right, rendered in the characteristic Flavian portraiture style with strongly individualized features. The effigy displays the emperor's broad, fleshy face with naturalistic modelling typical of the period. A circular Latin legend runs around the periphery of the flan, reading IMP CAES VESP AVG P M T P COS IIII CENS, enumerating his principal imperial titles. The flan is irregular and shows the characteristic surface texture of a hammered bronze issue, with patination ranging from reddish-brown to green.
