Obverse description Laureate head of Vespasian facing right, rendered in the veristic portraiture tradition characteristic of Flavian imperial coinage, with a small globe placed at the base of the neck truncation. The emperor's features are boldly modelled, displaying the broad, fleshy face and strong jaw associated with Vespasian's official likeness. The encircling legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The portrait projects an aura of authority and mature gravitas befitting a founder of a new dynasty.
