| Reverse description | Standing figure of Pax facing left, rendered in high relief in the conventional allegorical style of Flavian coinage. The goddess holds an olive branch extended forward in her right hand and a caduceus or long sceptre in her left, emblems of peace and prosperity. The senatorial mark S C (Senatus Consultum) is prominently placed in the field to either side of the figure at mid-height, affirming the authority of the senate in the striking of this bronze denomination. The encircling legend PAX AVGVST runs around the periphery. The reverse composition is typical of the Pax type struck at the Rome Mint during Vespasian's censorial years. |
