| Reverse description | The personification of Fides Publica (Public Faith/Loyalty) stands in full figure facing left, draped in flowing robes, extending a patera in her right hand and holding a cornucopiae in her left. The large senatorial authority marks S and C (Senatus Consultum) flank the central figure on either side in the field, as was customary on Flavian aes coinage. The reverse legend FIDES PVBLICA appears in the surrounding border, proclaiming the ideological theme of civic loyalty and public trust. The overall composition is characteristic of the Julio-Claudian and Flavian allegorical reverse type tradition, executed in bold relief suited to the as denomination. |
