| Reverse description | The personification of Fides Publica (Public Faith/Loyalty) depicted standing facing left, draped in a long flowing garment, extending a patera in her right hand and holding a cornucopiae in her left. The monogram S C (Senatus Consultum), authorising the issue of bronze coinage, appears prominently in the field to either side of the figure. The reverse legend is distributed around the periphery of the flan, and the overall composition exemplifies the programmatic use of allegorical imagery on Flavian imperial bronzes to project themes of stability and good faith following the civil wars of AD 69. |
