| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, the portrait exhibiting the strong, individualised features characteristic of Trajanic imperial portraiture, including a pronounced brow and firm jawline. The paludamentum is visible at the left shoulder, and the segmented lorica segmentata is rendered with careful attention to surface articulation. The encircling Latin legend occupies the outer field, running clockwise, and the broad, slightly irregular flan is consistent with hand-struck Roman imperial bronze production of the early second century AD. The high-relief effigy reflects the accomplished die-cutting associated with the Rome mint under Trajan. |
