| Obverse description | Radiate bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, draped on the left shoulder, sometimes rendered with an aegis. The effigy is rendered in the confident imperial portrait style characteristic of Trajanic coinage. The surrounding circular legend in Latin identifies the emperor with his full titulature. The portrait exhibits strong, idealized facial features consistent with official Roman imperial die work of the early second century AD. |
