Reverse description The Genius Populi Romani is depicted standing facing left in the centre of the field, rendered as a seminude male figure of heroic proportions. He holds a patera in his right hand, extended forward as if in the act of libation, and a cornucopiae (horn of plenty) cradled in his left arm, symbolising the prosperity and divine favour bestowed upon the Roman people. The figure stands on a plain ground line. The abbreviated legend GENIO P R is disposed in the field to left and right of the figure, with S C (Senatus Consultum) flanking the lower portion, attesting the senatorial authority under which this bronze issue was struck.
