Obverse description Laureate head of Titus facing right, depicted with characteristic short hair and a laurel wreath, rendered in bold high relief typical of Flavian portraiture. The portrait is naturalistic, with strong facial features and a slightly idealized military bearing. The encircling Latin legend runs from lower left around the periphery of the flan, identifying the emperor by his titles. The truncation of the bust is bare, consistent with early Flavian coinage under Vespasian. The flan is slightly irregular, as is characteristic of hammered bronze aes of this period.
Obverse script Latin
Obverse lettering T CAESAR VESPASIAN IMP IIII PON TR POT III COS II
