Reverse description The Altar of the Three Gauls at Lugdunum (modern Lyon) depicted in frontal view, its facade adorned with a corona civica flanked by nude male figures on each side. Two columns surmounted by Victories holding laurel wreaths flank the altar on either side. The abbreviated legend ROM ET AVG appears prominently in the field. The composition is symmetrical and hieratic, consistent with the official Lugdunum mint style of the Augustan and early Tiberian periods.
