Reverse description The personification of Libertas standing in full figure, draped, facing left. In her extended right hand she holds a pileus (the freedman's cap symbolic of liberty), while her left hand bears a short sceptre or vindicta rod, raised slightly upward to the right. The composition conveys the ideological message of restored public freedom proclaimed at the outset of Nerva's reign. The legend appears in the field and exergue area, flanking the central figure, with the senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) prominently displayed.
