Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Nerva facing right, rendered in the restrained, naturalistic portraiture characteristic of the Flavian-Nervan transition period. The legend encircles the effigy along the periphery of the flan, partially visible on this specimen due to the irregular flan edge and surface wear. The portrait conveys the aged features of the emperor with fine die-engraving typical of the Rome mint under Nerva's brief reign.
