Reverse description A winged, draped figure of Victory striding dynamically to the left, her drapery billowing behind her in a manner evoking Hellenistic artistic convention. She holds with both hands a large oval shield inscribed S P Q R (Senatus Populusque Romanus), presenting it as a votive offering. The senatorial authorization mark S C (Senatus Consultum) appears in the field, divided to either side of the central figure, affirming that this bronze issue was struck under the authority of the Roman Senate. The composition conveys imperial triumph and the legitimacy of Neronian rule over the Roman world.
