Obverse description Bare-headed bust of Nero facing left, depicted with characteristic thick neck and youthful, fleshy features rendered in the Julio-Claudian portrait style. The emperor is shown draped at the shoulder, with his hair arranged in the typical Neronian fashion of layered curls across the forehead. The encircling legend NERO CAESAR AVG GERM IMP runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan in bold, well-spaced Latin capitals. The portrait occupies the central field with confident, high-relief die-work typical of the Rome Mint under Nero's early reign.
