Obverse lettering NERO CLAVD CAESAR AVG GERMANI
(Translation: Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus. Nero Claudius, Caesar, emperor (Augustus), victor over the Germans.)
Reverse description The Genius Populi Romani stands in full figure facing left, depicted as a togate male figure with head veiled in the Roman sacrificial manner. In his extended right hand he holds a patera poised over a small flaming altar at his feet, while his left hand bears a cornucopiae, symbolising abundance and divine favour. The legend is disposed around the field in two registers, with the senatorial authorisation mark S C flanking the central type and the officina letter I completing the reverse inscription. The composition reflects the standard Neronian Aes coinage iconography honouring the protective spirit of the emperor.
