Nero visited Greece in 66–67 AD for an extended tour during which he competed in the major Panhellenic games — and, characteristically, won every event he entered. The ADVENTVS issue from Patras directly commemorates that arrival. The colony, refounded by Augustus with Italian settlers after Actium, retained strong ties to Roman authority and had good reason to mark an imperial visit with a local bronze emission.
The C P abbreviation stands for Colonia (Augusta Aroe) Patrensis. Nero famously announced the liberation of Greece from taxation during this tour at the Isthmian Games in 67 AD.
