(Translation: Servius Galba Imperator Caesar Augustus, Tribunicia Potestas Servio Galba, supreme commander (Imperator), Caesar, emperor (Augustus), tribunician power.)
Reverse description In the central field, a legionary aquila (eagle standard) displayed left and perched atop a thunderbolt is flanked symmetrically by two military standards, each surmounted by a disc and decorated with medallions below; the entire group rests upon a horizontal bar. This composition evokes the military and divine legitimacy of imperial authority. The abbreviated senatorial authorization legend S C (Senatus Consultum) appears prominently in the lower field, divided on either side of the central standard group.
