Obverse description Bare-necked, laureate head of Emperor Galba facing right, rendered in bold high relief characteristic of early Flavian-era portraiture, with a small globe positioned at the base of the neck truncation — a device symbolising imperial dominion over the world. The legend is disposed around the periphery of the flan in incuse Latin capitals. The portrait exhibits the aged, jowled physiognomy associated with Galba's numismatic iconography, with the laurel wreath rendered in fine individual leaves.
