Obverse description Bare-headed, laureate bust of Emperor Galba facing right, depicted with a slightly aged, heavily jowled portrait characteristic of his numismatic iconography. The bust is draped and cuirassed, rendered in the realistic veristic tradition of Roman imperial portraiture. The circular legend surrounds the effigy reading IMP SER SVLP GALBA CAES AVG TR P, inscribed in Latin capitals. The portrait occupies the majority of the coin's field, with the legend running from lower left to upper right around the periphery. The overall style reflects the brief but artistically accomplished coinage issued during Galba's short reign.
