Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Domitian facing right, with characteristic portrait features of the Flavian dynasty rendered in a provincial style. The bust is draped and cuirassed, occupying the central field of the flan. A Greek legend reading ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΣ (Augustus) surrounds the effigy, identifying the imperial titulature in the eastern provincial tradition. The die work reflects the local engraving style of the Ascalon mint, with somewhat coarse but recognizable portraiture. The flan is irregular, as is typical of hammered provincial bronzes of this period.
