Obverse description Bare-headed, laureate and draped bust of Domitian facing right, rendered in high relief with youthful features typical of his early Flavian portraiture. The hair is depicted in tight curls across the crown, with the laurel wreath clearly delineated. The circular legend runs around the periphery of the flan, reading CAESAR AVG F DOMITIAN COS II. The flan is irregularly shaped, as characteristic of hammered Roman aes coinage of the Flavian period, with some surface patination visible.
