Reverse description A rectangular altar depicted in frontal elevation, set upon three steps, with a door featuring four panels on its face and prominent volute horns or acroteria projecting from each upper corner. The structure is rendered with careful architectural detail, evoking the Altar of Salus in Rome. Decorative foliage or garlands appear above the altar's cornice. The senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) is prominently placed in the exergue or lower field on either side of the altar base. The legend SALVTI AVGVST arcs around the upper portion of the reverse field.
