Obverse description Laureate head of Domitian facing right, rendered in high relief with strong, youthful features typical of Flavian portraiture. The laurel wreath is clearly delineated around the portrait. The circular legend runs along the full periphery of the flan, reading CAESAR AVG F DOMITIANVS COS IIII, identifying Domitian as son of Augustus and consul for the fourth time. The flan is slightly irregular at the edges, characteristic of hammered bronze coinage of the period.
