Obverse description Laureate bust of Emperor Domitian facing right, wearing an aegis over the shoulder, rendered in high relief with characteristic late first-century Roman portraiture. The emperor's features are boldly modeled, with the laurel wreath clearly defined around the head. The circular legend runs along the periphery of the flan, framing the imperial effigy. The bust is of the draped and cuirassed type, consistent with the military pretensions of the Flavian dynasty. The overall style reflects the confident die-cutting of the Rome mint under Domitian.
