The emperor's features are depicted with characteristic realism, including a strong jaw and prominent brow. A beaded border frames the design. The encircling legend reads IMP CAES DOMIT AVG GERM COS XI CENS PER P P, distributed around the full circumference of the flan. |

The legend FIDEI PVBLICAE is inscribed along the right portion of the border, completing the dedicatory inscription to public loyalty. |
