Obverse description Radiate, cuirassed bust of Diocletian facing right, rendered in the late Roman imperial style with pronounced features. The emperor's effigy displays a radiate crown with pronounced spikes, indicative of the antoninianus denomination. The cuirass is visible at the truncation of the bust, reflecting his military authority. The surrounding legend reads IMP DIOCLETIANVS AVG, positioned clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The strike is somewhat irregular, consistent with late third-century Roman mint practice.
