Obverse description Radiate and cuirassed bust of Diocletian facing right, rendered in high relief with bold, somewhat coarse late Roman style. The emperor's effigy displays a laureate wreath and a draped paludamentum over the right shoulder. The circular legend surrounds the bust close to the coin's irregular flan edge. The portrait exhibits the characteristic strong, squared facial features associated with Tetrarchic imperial portraiture.
