Obverse description Radiate head of Divus Augustus facing left, rendered in the idealized classical style typical of Julio-Claudian portraiture. The effigy displays the characteristic radiate crown associated with deified emperors, with drapery visible at the shoulder. The circular legend surrounds the portrait within the coin's field, reading DIVVS AVGVSTVS PATER. The flan is irregular in shape, as is characteristic of hammered bronze issues of the early Imperial period.
