| Obverse description | Bare head of Divus Augustus facing right, rendered in the classical portrait style characteristic of Julio-Claudian coinage. The effigy presents Augustus with idealized features and short curled hair, consistent with his canonical posthumous representations. The legend DIVVS AVGVSTVS runs around the periphery of the flan. This restitution type was struck under Nerva to honour the deified founder of the Principate. |
