| Obverse description | Bare head of Augustus facing right, portrayed with fine Classical detail characteristic of Augustan provincial coinage. The imperial effigy is rendered in moderately high relief with naturalistic facial features. The circular legend AVGVSTVS DIVI F runs around the periphery, identifying the emperor as son of the deified Julius Caesar. The field surrounding the portrait shows the typical irregular surface of a hammered bronze as struck at the Caesaraugusta mint. |
