| Obverse description | Bare or lightly laureate head of Augustus facing right, depicted in profile with naturalistic portraiture characteristic of Augustan provincial coinage. The effigy fills the central field, with the legend AVGVSTVS partially visible around the periphery. The flan is irregular and somewhat rough, consistent with the hammered provincial mint production of Pax Julia. The portrait style reflects the influence of official imperial iconography adapted at a local Lusitanian mint. |
