| Reverse description | A Delphic tripod stands centrally, its cauldron surmounted by a decorative crown-like rim with undulating waves; a serpent is coiled around the legs and body of the tripod, a reference to Apolline cult symbolism. The Greek legend ΑΤΡΑΤΙΝΟ ΠΥΘΙΩΝ is distributed in two lines around the central type, naming the magistrate Atratinos and his Pythian office. The execution is bold and characteristic of late Sicilian civic bronze coinage of the late Republican period. |
