Obverse description A single upright wheat ear rendered in fine relief, occupying the central field, with two lateral stalks flanking the main spike and leaf-like glumes clearly articulated. The design is enclosed within a plain inner circle and a prominent beaded border running along the coin's periphery. The composition is bold and emblematic, referencing the agricultural wealth of the Guadalquivir valley region. No legend or inscription appears on this side. The surface shows characteristic green patination consistent with ancient bronze coinage.

Additional information

Ilipense is identified with the ancient Iberian settlement of Ilipa, likely modern Alcalá del Río near Seville — the same site where Scipio Africanus decisively defeated Hasdrubal Gisco in 206 BC, effectively ending Carthaginian power in Hispania. The town's subsequent bronze coinage reflects the slow Romanization of the Guadalquivir valley, with local Iberian script persisting well into the second century despite deepening Roman administrative control.

ACIP 2333 is a relatively scarce attribution within the Ilipense series.
